Exercise Alert
This is a very important message. The latest headlines are blasting the information on short bursts of exercise. A bunch of articles are telling you that you that just 10 minutes a day of exercise will help you. Yes, it's true! You can improve your fitness and most definitely improve your health by exercising just 10 minutes a day. Clearly, more is better but every little bit helps.
About 5 or 6 years ago, research was done in some exercise physiology labs that proved this, but sometimes it takes a while for information to get filtered down to the public.
Here are some easy ways for you to get in your 10 minutes:
1.When you wake up in the morning, before you shower or leave the house, put on your favorite music, start moving (dancing) and go where the music takes you (really, have fun!).
2. When you get to where you work (or shop, or where you drop the kids), park as far away as possible (if you are in a safe neighborhood) and walk briskly (for 0 minutes) before you go into the office or store.
3. Stairs are a killer. If you work in a high rise building, take the stairs for 10 minutes and then if you have to, get off on a different floor and take the elevator the rest of the way. If you don't work in a high rise, go up and down the stairs in your building for 10 minutes.
4. Take your dog out for a good brisk walk, not a stroll.
5. Get more activity in your work day by getting up as often as possible and walking around to talk to co-workers as opposed to E-Mailing them.
6. Get up off the couch while watching TV and march and skip in place.
Please, start moving!
